The task is, not so much to see what no one has yet seen; but to think what nobody has yet thought, about that which everybody sees. || Erwin Schrödinger

Childhood Memories Of A Nudist Beach

Scripps Pier, La Jolla, California. 12.16.2009

When I was seven, my Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa and I walked under this pier headed for Black’s Beach. It was my first visit to a nudist beach. Low tide is the only time to get to Black’s by way of the beach from La Jolla Shores.

Over boulders, we made it, my Dad with a film camera hidden under a towel. While I didn’t show it, I was quite excited to be visiting such a beach. As expected, there were naked people of all shapes and ages. My opinion of humans changed that day, and it was good.

Unfortunately, when I returned home to Texas and waited in great anticipation for about two weeks for the film to be developed, almost all of the footage of naked folks had been removed by the film processor. This was a great let down.
