On This Day In History: Revolutionary Album Released
On this day in history: May 16, 1966 on 12seconds.tv
The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds is listed as the number 2 album on Rolling Stones’ 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, but the number 1 album, The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, purposefully includes the sounds of barking dogs in deference to The Beach Boys.
Any “Best” or “Greatest” list is the result of countless subjective judgments, but there is no doubt that The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds is one of the most influential recordings in modern music history.
Listen to Pet Sounds now, in its entirety, at Lala.com.
