“$#$%##! LA County tries for cuss-free week”
15-year-old McKay Hatch, of South Pasadena High School, has succeeded in getting the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to declare the first week in March “No Cussing Week.”
$#$%##! LA County tries for cuss-free week – AP
“It’s not about forcing anyone to stop, just to bring awareness,” he says of the movement. “If you can do a week without cussing, maybe you can do two weeks. And then maybe a month.”
I almost dismissed this story until I read something that I think is very important:
“Next year I want to try to get California to have a cuss-free week. And then, who knows, maybe worldwide,” said the 10th grader, who believes if people treat each other with more civility they can better work together to solve bigger problems. (My emphasis added in bold.)
Lofty goals like “world peace” begin at the person to person level; if people can’t be nice to each other then aiming for a peaceful planet is futile.
The LA County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to make the first week of March “No Cussing Week” on Tuesday, March 3; they’re a bit @#$%ing late.
